    Battle For The Pride

    seriāli

Botswana is home to the largest male lions on the planet but only 1 out of 8 males ever make it to adulthood. Lion cubs start their life vulnerable and weak and threats come from all sides. It takes years to learn all the skills they will need to become an apex predator and they must overcome many challenges, in order to survive. Understanding pride politics is a vital first lesson. Watching and learning everything from their family, young lions practice their killer moves on each other before moving on to prey. Within a couple of years they become strong, independent hunters, helping to feed the pride, but for some their days are numbered. Once fully grown, females become pride queens, taking their place at the side of the adult lionesses, but males are banished, no longer tolerated by the dominant male. They must learn to fend for themselves, out in no-man´s land, and no-man´s land is a dangerous place. Being part of a brotherhood gives them strength which they would not have alone. Together they can try to win themselves a new pride but there can only be one king

A rash of black bear attacks one Canadian summer has experts looking for answers. Through eyewitness accounts and detailed analysis of the attack scenes, we begin to piece together the puzzle. A bad berry crop the year after a drought is stressing the animals food supply… a spring hunting moratorium several years in a row has led to a surge in the number of young bruins… an especially warm summer brings more people into bear country than ever before. But our investigation suggests a much more disturbing reason behind these attacks…Could it be that some black bears have learned to see humans as prey?

A captivating world of creepy crawlies exists all around us. And they are the biggest group of animals in the world, outnumbering humans 200 million to one. Thanks to millions of years of evolution, these invertebrates not only survive in almost every landscape known to man, but also thrive by means of fascinating, and sometimes bizarre adaptations. There´s the Bombardier beetle that squirts a boiling hot liquid from its anus, the Assassin bug that turns its victims into soup, and the Parasitic wasp that lays her eggs inside her victims, until her young are ready to eat their way out. We end off with the biggest bugs on the planet: the Atlas moth with a wingspan of over 20 centimeters, the Hercules beetle that can carry 850 times its own weight, and the Giant centipede - big enough to catch flying bats from midair!
